“Before joining Zyla, my PP blood sugar used to be around 300 to 350 and has now come down to 180 to 200. Now I am 61 years old, but I feel so much more energetic and healthy as never before. I feel the youngest I have felt in the last 20 years since my diagnosis.”
Mr. Manase Stox Peter is a simple family man who spent 35 years in dedicated government service working as a Cashier in a bank. He has been a loving husband and father who did everything in his power to give his family the best possible life.
An ordinary man with an extraordinary journey, his story is not just of an uphill battle of achieving his desired health outcomes but one that celebrates his relationship with his family who have been his strongest support system. His journey has certainly not been easy but his family has always been there to rally around him and lift him up in the darkest of times. Isn’t it amazing how far one can go just because someone believed in them?
Mr. Peter was a dedicated man working amidst the rush and chaos of his job who enjoyed a little challenge now and then but like with any superhero story, the biggest challenge of his life was yet to come.
One fine morning while he was out on his regular morning cycling routine, he had an episode of chest pains following which he consulted a doctor and received the shocking news - he has diabetes.
“At that time. I did not completely understand how this diagnosis would affect my life or how serious it could get. I had heard from people about Diabetes, so I had a lot of fear in my heart. I was quite disturbed after finding out. I couldn’t sleep for a week and would lay awake at night worrying about the future of my wife and children. There were no Google or smartphones at the time that I could just search for things on the net and relieve my worries.”
Mr. Peter, like most diabetics, took the first step in his health journey and consulted a famous specialist in his hometown. He started his new treatment with medicines and regular walks. He moved forward with a confident stride and an unwavering resolve to defeat diabetes. Being a service man, it was definitely not easy for him to juggle his work, health and family life at the same time. But he wouldn’t be called a superhero if it were now, would he?

In June 2019, as he was starting a new chapter in his life post-retirement, he reached a turning point in his healthcare journey as well.
While attending a training session on how to manage retirement and his health with his wife, he had a wake up call and realised that he needs something more. By this time, the world had evolved and now he had the resources of the internet, mobile phones and apps to fuel his motivation and provide him with a worthwhile solution.
“The younger generation can type so quickly with both their hands, but I can’t do that. I had to learn and get comfortable with smartphones.”
So, he began searching for different ways to bring his sugar levels under control. He tried different apps but was not satisfied, until he found Zyla.
“What convinced me that this would be the right fit for me was reading other patients' reviews. I saw stories of people losing weight, defeating diabetes faster than anything I had tried before. I thought that I can achieve this myself one day.” Superhero gains superpowers
He worked hard by following each advice religiously and managed to turn his life around. In this fight against diabetes our superhero had the full support of his better half, his wife - Mrs. Esther Manase Peter. Even while struggling with some health problems herself, she took care of his meals, his medications, and overall health like a devoted wife and Mr. Peter took care of her with the same dedication. She's one of the biggest reasons that he is now a diabetes superhero.
“Over the past 6 months, I have managed to lose 4 kgs already. I feel lighter and energized in life. I wish it existed in my life a few years back, I would be able to work harder at my job. It is so much more rewarding to share this experience as a family. My wife has now become an expert at handling my meals according to the diet plan. Kudos to my family for their support.”
Like a true superhero, he has proven to be a role model for his wife and children as well. Once he started seeing improvements in his health, he encouraged his wife and daughter to join as well.
“I myself was struggling with High BP when Dad asked me to join Zyla as well. Seeing his enthusiasm I decided to give it a try as well and it has been so rewarding sharing this experience with my parents. He never complains, is always upbeat and enthusiastic which inspires me every single day. As a family, we always lift each other up.”

“Dad’s dedication to his health has certainly inspired and motivated me to be fitter. Also, to prioritize health as a lifestyle. He has taught me the importance of small details and simple chores for discipline and health benefits. I am proud of the dedication and interest he has to exercise and stay healthy.”
-- his son, Solomon Peter
“This nomination for Super Hero means a lot to me. I had gone into depression in my 20's during my studies and have come out of it as well. Life had its ups and downs along the way but it taught me a lot. To each person out there struggling today, I would say you are not alone. Find the strength within yourself to take the first step. A year from now you’ll be glad you started today.”
